Fallen dreams once inspired. They refuse to float and raise hope within. The fire of youth has grown tired and almost faded. Only motivation can reignite and make the flame ardor stronger. We are lost souls looking for the answer to give cause to our fire, to give breath to our passion and direction to our talents.

One of my resolutions for this year is to walk more. I have a goal to walk in the evenings at least 3 times a weeks minimum of 15 minutes each walk. This will do both Rocks and I much good health wise. Today was a bit cold and rainy but I still felt the motivation to get out. We have the cold gear and looks like Rocks enjoyed it.

My dearest beloved dog Charlie passed away this Friday. I still have much heart-ache. I will miss him greatly.

When I was going through my pictures I came across this blog that I have forgotten to add anything into for years. I came across many posts of Charlie and pictures throughout the years. This was such a great find in my time of need and desire to consume all the memories of my eldest fur-kid. Because of this I have proposed myself to write more and do more blog post.

I felt very conflicted on many of my picks for who I thought should win and who I thought would get selected to win.

Best Picture - I was most entertained with American Hustle and also thought directing of all the various actors was a great undertaking in it of itself - But I think Best Director will go to Martin Scorsese for Wolf of Wall Street.

Best Actor I was torn between Bale and McConaughey - I think they will give it to Matthew McConaughey

Best Actress, was toughest choice for me for different reasons. Sandra Bullock held the entire picture practically by herself. For most of the film it was only her character that had to maintain the suspense and entertainment of the film, Bullock did a great job to do so.  Blanchett was great at playing neurotic troubled woman, but found the character role itself predictable on only on two gears - crazy or numb, with no in-between emotions. I think who should win is Meryl Streep.  I know she was won many already, but she does an excellent job at choosing meaty roles.  She is un recognizable and raw in August Osage County - I think they will give it to Cate Blanchett.

Supporting Actress - I was surprised at Roberts performance and am satisfied with getting an Oscar nomination. Lawrence was great but not enough for an Oscar this year.  Squibb stole the movie in Nebraska but the wining performance should and will probably go to Lupita Nyong'o.

Supporting Actor - Great performances for all the nominees.  This was another I was very conflicted with.  New comer Barkhad Abdi is amazing, Hill captured the character perfectly, Cooper was crazy, Fassbender plays a cruel soul like no other but I believe Jared Leto will win for his excellent rendition of Rayon, his character in Dallas Buyers club.

The Gift of Music

Have you given the gift of music to a young child in your family or circle of friends yet? Kids can appreciate music more than you think. I remember very clearly getting my very own record single (45 rpm record - dating myself here) when I was four and it made me very happy. I then received a kiddy piano when I was five. I firmly believe these early gifts are the reason why I am an avid fan music and why it makes me SO incredibly happy.

Curious to know which record I received? Boogie Oogie Oogie, by A Taste of Honey. Granted Disco has not been esteemed as great music in history but this is probably why most of my favored songs on constant iPod rotation are dance songs. My love of music and genres thankfully expanded since then but I hold a very fond memory for this particular song because of the fact that is was my very own.

Who gives records today? I know that is probably what you are thinking. Honestly, I don't purchase CDs as often as I use to either unless I really want the cover art or there is a great sale. The principle is the same though spend the time with a child and enjoy music together.

When one of my nephew was three/four he would visit me and I remember playing songs and dancing/jumping on the bed with him a bit as well. Hey 'm an auntie I can break the rules a bit! He is now nine and he also remembers screaming Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone" at the top of his lungs. Probably not the best song either, don't judge me. Note he also likes some Rolling Stones courtesy of my wide varied collection. I can only hope he also expands his taste across genres. His little brother who is four now actually favors "Hit The Road Jack" by Ray Charles and "Fireflies" by Owl City, so I think we'll be OK.

Experimenting with color. This has inspired me to do the same with other mediums. I might skip water color paint but I think the colors will look amazing when I attempt this with acrylics.

Easy Path

This drawing was particularly soothing today. I am beginning to pick up drawing more on Mondays. It always does seem to comfort me after the typically long and stressful beginning of the work week. Mondays I feel the need to wind down a bit more.

Young Hero Drawing

I use to often draw super heros and random cartoons. I will rate this one for myself as OK. I had a hard time figuring out what the emblem in his chest would be. In the end I went with my favorite animal the lion.

Drawing Again

I use to draw on every piece of blank space I could find. Napkins, notebooks, receipts, anything I could get my hands on when I felt the inspiration. Even some of my old work notes have doodle drawings on them. I don't recall however when was the last time I committed to paper anything other than words.

I feel the need to bring that aspect of creativity back into my life. I need the practice. I may regret this simply because I know how limited my time is.... I am promising to post at least a drawing a week. Disclaimer: drawings on napkins will count.
